Our Founder's Story

"Elektra Desmilliene, born and raised in Cameroon, overcame financial barriers to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Indianapolis. Her education was made possible by the generosity of mentors, friends, and donors. Now pursuing a master’s degree with support from her employer and the state, Elektra is committed to giving back. She founded Shehknoh—meaning “knowledge” in her mother tongue—to ensure others have access to affordable, empowering education. Her engineering mindset and love for learning drive Shehknoh’s focus on innovation and research."
